2007 Women's Golf Season Outlook

Three of the five golfers who led the Ephs to 10th place at the NCAA Division III National Championship last June return to campus this spring to play for first year co-coaches Kris Herman and Fran Vandermeer. Herman will coach the fall season and Vandermeer will lead the program in the spring.

The youthful Eph team contains no seniors, but they will have plenty of talent on hand in the fall season—the first of two for the golf team.  Sophomore Anne O'Leary, who garnered All-East honors last year for the Ephs leads the way and classmates Kristin Nottebohm, Kait O’Brien and Mary Gelber are expected to be key scoring components for the team. Junior Allison Khederian was also a member of the first Eph women’s golf team ever to play in an NCAA tournament last spring.

Juniors Melissa Barton and Laura Koplik will not be available during the fall semester, both studying away from campus.  Both will return for the spring season, while Gelber, a member of the softball team, will not golf in the spring.

First years Lauren Anstey, Mary Beth Daub, Dale Markey and Amiee Weber all will work to break in to the lineup this season.

“With the many changes in the roster this fall, we’ll get to work on finding a rhythm as a team first and foremost.  The women have been working hard all summer and we expect to come out of the gates running. I’m excited for a strong fall, “ says Herman.

Taconic Golf Club assistant professional Josh Hillman will be the assistant coach for the women’s team in both the fall and the spring. The Ephs will open the year on the road when they tee it up at the St. Lawrence Invitational in Canton, NY September 8 and 9.
