Ephs 6th out of 9 after day one at St. Lawrence


CANTON, NY – In their first event of the season at St. Lawrence University, the Williams College women's golf team placed sixth out of nine teams with a total score of 355 in the first day of the two-day tournament.

Humber College leads the tournament with a score of 329 and St. Lawrence University is in second place with a score of 346.

Williams is nine strokes out of fifth place. Kait O'Brien, a sophomore, turned in the top score of 84 with a 38 on the front and the best nine holes by an Eph. Sophomore Kristin Nottebohm shot an 89 and junior Laura Koplik followed with a score of 90.

Sophomore Mary Gelber shot a 92 and Lauren Antsey, a freshman, shot a 95 in her first college tournament. Coach Kris Herman was pleased with the team's start, stating that it was a "good first day" and a "solid start". On the other hand, Herman did say that her players probably did not do as well as they would have liked.

The tournament concludes tomorrow with the teams teeing off at 8:00 am.
