Ephs End First Day in First Place at Vassar Invitational

Poughkeepsie, NY— William’s women’s golf started off strong, leading the Vassar College Invitational after the first 18 holes Saturday.

At the end of first day competition, Melissa Barton led the pack, tied in first with Rosie O’Connor from St. Mary’s College, shooting an 81. Three other Ephs, Laura Koplik, Kristen Nottebohm and Anne O’Leary rounded out the top three finishes for the Ephs with scores of 83, 84, and 89, respectively. In her first competition of the northern traveling schedule, first-year Dale Markey shot a 100.

The Ephs go into day two of the tournament, having ended day one with 337 combined strokes, 12 strokes ahead second place St. Mary’s College. Eph head coach Fran Vandermeer said of her team: I’m looking forward to improving our scores, and having another good 18 holes tomorrow.

The Ephs tee off today at 10:30.
