Ephs 7th out of 26 teams (3rd best among Div. III teams) at Jekyll Island Invite

JEKYLL ISLAND, GA – In the first spring outing the Williams women’s golf team registered a seventh place finish out of 26 teams at the Jekyll Island Invitational played over three days at Indian Mound GC. Berry College won the three-day event with a team score of 959.
The Ephs posted three-day total of 1010, which was third best among Div. III teams. The University of St. Thomas was the top Div. III scoring team (987) and Wisconsin-Stevens Point was second (1004). The event featured 142 individual golfers competing on the par 72, 5,380-yard Indian Mound course.
“We started the final day tied for eighth and the team finished at 1010 with a 339 today in extremely windy conditions,” noted Eph co-head coach Fran Vandermeer. “Our golfers competed well, kept battling all weekend and will benefit from this early season tournament experience.”
Laura Koplik posted the best final round for the Ephs with an 81. Melissa Barton carded an 84, Anne O’Leary shot an 86 and Kristin Nottebohm and Kait O’Brien both fired 88s.
Koplik was the highest individual Eph scorer coming in 13th with a tourney total of 244, while Anne O’Leary (253), Melissa Barton (257), Kait O’Brien (260) and Kristin Nottebohm (263) rounded out the scoring.
The Ephs will next compete on April 12 & 13 at the Vassar College Invitational.
