Brad Hemmerly has been named the assistant coach for women's crew for the 2008-09 academic year.  Hemmerly is a graduate of Ohio State where in his four years he was elected captain of the Buckeye team an unprecedented three times.  He was also earned two prestigious awards. Hemmerly won the "Scarlet and Grey Award" that is presented to the oarsman who inspires teammates and never loses sight of the fact that success is dependent upon unity and commitment to the team. Additionally, he was earned the "Coaches Cup" as the team-member who epitomizes the dedication and spirit of oarsmanship.

After graduation, Hemmerly remained at Ohio State, becoming the first assistant and Novice Women's Coach for the club program.  His crews performed with distinction, racing at the SIRA, ECAC, Dad Vail and ECAC regattas.  In 2007 Hemmerly's Novice 8+ placed 2nd at the Dad Vail and helped the Buckeye team capture the Women's Points Trophy.

"As an oarsman and assistant coach Brad has demonstrated a passion for rowing since 2002," noted Eph head coach Justin Moore. "He is a strong communicator and dedicated student of the sport.  His crews have always performed well, and he understands the level or performance necessary to achieve at the national level in Division III."

"I am looking forward to seeing what happens when Brad's enthusiasm and work ethic are coupled with a program that offers stronger support to coaches and athletes. I think that Williams is the perfect place for Brad to take another step in his coaching career."
