Justin Moore named CRCA National Coach of the Year for 4th time

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – By all measures Justin Moore has sculpted an incredibly impressive women’s rowing program at Williams College where the Ephs have now won five consecutive NCAA Division III Rowing Championships. The current Eph streak of five NCAA titles in a row includes 2007, a year in which Moore was out of the country on sabbatical assisting with the Canadian National Team.

The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) has named Moore its National Coach of the Year for 2010 for the fourth time (2006, 2008, 2009 & 2010).

Overall Moore has directed the Ephs to five NCAA titles and the Eph program has won a total of 6 as Williams (under Moore) won the inaugural NCAA Division III Rowing Championship for Women in 2002.

For the second straight year Moore guided his Varsity 1 boat to an undefeated season and placed his Varsity 2 boat in the NCAA Grand Final. In 2009 the Ephs finished first and fifth in the Grand Final at the NCAA Championships and this spring the Ephs improved on that finishing first by open water and third.

This spring Julia Haltermann and Kate Shaper were named CRCA All-Americans, while Adrienne Darrow, Kaitlin Konkel, Jane McClellan, Lindsay Olsen, Emma Pelgri-O'Day and Elizabeth Zhu all earned Scholar-Athlete honors from the CRCA.

In addition, Zhu was named the inaugural winner of the Elite 88 Award at the NCAA Championships for possessing the highest cumulative GPA of all the rowers at the NCAA Championships.

Watch highlights of the Ephs at the 2010 NCAA Championships on the CBS Sports NCAA Spring Highlights Show at 4:00 pm EST on June 19th.

An interesting note involving the CRCA selections this spring is that the University of Virginia’s assistant coach Steve Pritzker, who was named the NCAA Division I Assistant Coach of the Year, was coached by Justin Moore at Yale. Pritzker was a coxswain at Yale.  He was a member of the Bulldogs’1996 crew that went undefeated, won the Eastern Sprints and the Temple  Challenge Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta in England.
