COMPLETE RESULTS

STOWE, VT -- With the alpine races completed yesterday, it was only the Williams nordic ski team in action this afternoon. The team skied well, placing two in the top 15 of the women's race and four in the top 15 of the men's. In the end, though, the the team ended up in fifth for the third straight weekend.

The women had a solid day in the 10 km skate, with Alice Nelson racing to a 10th place finish, her second consecutive skating top ten. Following her was junior Sarah Tory, who had a career best finish, placing 14th. Skiing in the team's third spot was sophomore Hannah Hausman, who placed 29th. The women's team finished fifth on the day, but may well have done better had Kirsten Johnson (yesterday's top finisher) not contracted a violent case of food poisoning.

In the men's race, Williams packed the top 15 with four racers, good enough for fourth on the day, just six points from second. Leading the way was captain Alex Taylor, who finished a season best 7th place, just a half second out of 6th. Also in the top 15 were Dimitri Luthi and Keith Kantack (11th and 12th, respectively) and Mark Johnson, who finished 15th. The race was extremely tight at the top, with only 30 seconds separating 5th from 15th place. Captain Taylor was pleased with the team's performance today. "I was really stoked to see us put four guys in the top 15. I can't remember doing that ever before." Taylor continued, saying that the team was "poised to dominate in the second half of the season."

The team will look to make good on Taylor's claim when they travel to Dartmouth next weekend.
