
STOWE, VT – The alpine ski team took fifth in day one of the UVM Carnival, twenty points behind fourth place Middlebury College. Senior Eric Mann and juniors Alex Dyroff and Kelsey Levine led the team with their top ten finishes.
The men’s alpine team placed fifth, four points behind Dartmouth, led by Mann and Dyroff in seventh and eighth place. Freshman Sean Cummiskey put together his best result of the season with a 22nd place finish. Alex Reeves ’11 and Eirik Burrass ’09 followed up with 28th and 32nd place, respectively. Freshman Will Hadden, despite a strong first run, did not finish his second run.
Levine came through with her second top ten and best finish of the season, placing ninth, following up on her 10th place finish in the GS at the UNH Carnival last week, and leading the women's team to sixth overall. Freshman Laurel Carter took 16th place, four-tenths of a second out of the top ten, with junior Emily Porter keeping the top three Ephs in the t op twenty with her 20th place result. Senior Kelly Kirkpatrick placed 29th to put four skiers in the top thirty. Annie Hanson ’11 and Amy McLaughlin ’12 both had difficulty with their runs and did not finish.
The alpine team will conclude racing for the weekend on Saturday with the slalom. The nordic team will join in tomorrow with the 5/10K freestyle races, held in conjunction with the NENSA Eastern Cup/SuperTour races at the Trapp Family Lodge.
