Day 1 - Ephs Place 15th in NCAA Skiing Championships

Bozeman, Montana - The 2008 NCAA Skiing Championships, hosted by
Montana State University, began today with the Nordic freestyle
races at Bohart Ranch in Bozeman, Montana. The Ephs are currently
in 15th place with a team score of 28 points. Colorado currently
leads in the team standings with a combined score of 186 for the
men’s and women’s freestyle races.
Racing for the Ephs on the Nordic side were Kirsten Johnson,
freshman, and sophomore Alice Nelson in the women’s 5K
freestyle race. Johnson placed 23rd, out of 39 skiers, with a race
time of 19:22.9. Nelson placed 29th with a time of 19:39.8.
The Championships continue tomorrow with the Alpine giant slalom
race. On Friday, March 7th, are the Nordic classic races and the
tournament concludes on Saturday with the Alpine slalom races.
