Middlebury, VT – The Williams College ski team placed sixth
with a team score of 732 in the Eastern Championships Carnival held
at Middlebury College. Today’s races included the Alpine
giant slalom and the Nordic classic races.
The men’s Alpine team placed third overall with a team score
of 114 points in the giant slalom race. Top finisher for the Ephs
was senior team captain Charles Christianson, placing third in the
giant slalom with a first run time of 58.23 and a second run time
of 58.53. Eric Mann, junior, placed 10th with a first run of 58.75
and a second run of 58.67 and senior Tavis Moonan placed 11th with
a first run time of 59.23 and a second run time of 58.37. Other top
finishers for the Ephs include Alex Reeves, freshman, who placed
20th with a first run time of 59.91 and a second run time of 59.39
as well as sophomore Alex Dyroff, placing 27th with a first run
time of 1:01.57 and a second run time of 59.33.
Top finisher for the Ephs in the women’s giant slalom was
junior Jennah Durham, placing 10th with a first run time of 1:01.70
and a second run time of 1:01.31. Kelsey Levine, sophomore, placed
20th with a first run time of 1:02.48 and a second run time of
1:02.38. Sophomore Emily Porter placed 27th with a first run time
of 1:03.73 and a second run time of 1:02.30. Junior team captain
Kelly Kirkpatrick placed 34th with a first run of 1:04.96 and a
second run time of 1:04.05. Sophomore Elizabeth McClure was another
top finisher for the Ephs, placing 38th with a first run time of
1:05.35 and a second run time of 1:05.84. The women placed sixth
overall in the race, with a team score of 92 points.
The men’s Nordic team placed sixth overall in the 15K
classic race with a team score of 86 points. Top finisher for the
Ephs was Evan Dethier, freshman, who placed 18th with a race time
of 42:20.9. Sophomore Mark Johnson placed 20th with a race time of
42:24.0. Keith Kantack, freshman, placed 27th with a race time of
43:00.8. Team captain Sam Kapala, junior, placed 38th with a race
time of 43:39.6.
In the women’s 10K classic race, sophomore Alice Nelson
placed fifth with a race time of 30:38.8. Kirsten Johnson,
freshman, placed seventh with a race time of 30:50.3. Fiona
Worcester, junior, placed 25th with a race time of 32:14.7.
Freshman Gabrielle Joffe placed 32nd with a race time of 32:46.5.
Overall, the women placed third in the classic race with a team
score of 104 points.
