Joey Lye appears in Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd"

Joey Lye (Scarborough, ONT), a senior shortstop and captain for
the Ephs, appears in the May 25, 2009 issue of Sports Illustrated
in the "Faces in the Crowd" section. Lye is the 25th Eph athlete to
appear in "Faces in the Crowd" since August of 1989 and the first
softball player.

Lye was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference
(NESCAC) Player of the Year and at season's end she led Div. III in
hitting with a .563 batting average.

A 3-time First Team All-NESCAC selection and a Second Team
honoree as a freshman, Lye is one of only three Ephs to earn
softball All-America honors (2008). She owns five Williams career
records and is ranked in the top 10 in 11 different Eph offensive
categories. Lye's career marks include batting average (.467), runs
scored (150), hits (211), stolen Bases (62) and total bases (267)
all of which she accumulated in just 148 games.

Lye was also a four-year starter in ice hockey for the Ephs and
served as a team captain her senior year. For most of her Eph ice
hockey career she played on the blue line appearing in 100 games,
netting 18 goals and registering 23 assists for 41 total
points.
This fall Lye will join the Eph softball staff as an assistant
coach to Kris Herman.
