Ephs sweep of Amherst nets berth in NESCAC Tournament
WILLIAMSTOWN, MA For the second straight season, the Williams College softball team defeated archrival Amherst when it needed to most.
Saturday on Cole Field, the Ephs made the key plays count, defeating the Lord Jeffs 5-3 and 8-4 to secure a berth in the 2009 NESCAC Tournament via a second-place finished in the NESCACs West Division.

TROY, N.Y. Becky Sansone's two-run single sparked a four-run top of the seventh inning in the first game Tuesday as the Williams College softball team split a doubleheader with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) at Doris Robison Field, winning game one 7-4 and losing the nightcap, 11-7.

MIDDLETOWN, CT. It was a cold, blustery Easter for the Williams College softball team, which settled for a split with Little 3 rival Wesleyan. After holding on for an 18-14 victory in the first game, the Ephs dropped a key 6-4 decision in the nightcap, falling to 7-11 overall and 3-3 in the NESCAC West.

Junior Meaghan Dendy singled up the middle in the bottom of the 6th to drive in a pair of unearned runs, then finished her complete-game victory by holding Williams (6-10, 2-2) off the board in the 7th to secure a 5-4 NESCAC West victory for Wesleyan.

Thats what Williams softball coach Kris Herman (6th year, 129-70, .648) is laying as the foundation for her 2009 club. And while the Ephs may not own the largest roster in the region they will carry 12 this season there is still plenty of talent about.

Eph softball to play for Make-A-Wish on 15-game spring trip
While playing 15 games in California over Spring Break the Eph softball team will also be playing to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts. Team members are seeking pledges based on five statistical categories.
