HADLEY, Mass. - Williams junior shortstop Joey Lye (Scarborough, Ontario) received NESCAC Player of the Week honors, while junior teammate Morgan Simpson (McLean, Va.) was named NESCAC Pitcher of the Week for April 14, 2008.
Lye was also named the New England Intercollegiate Softball Coaches Association's Div. 3 Player of the Week for her performances.
Lye batted .684 (13-for-19) from the lead-off spot for the Ephs last week, reaching base 11 consecutive times at one point and posting an on-base percentage of .714. She scored eight runs and knocked home five while stealing two bases.
Lye leads the Ephs with a .505 batting average, 32 runs scored, six doubles, three triples and nine stolen bases. She also has team best numbers in on-base percentage (.563) and slugging percentage (.736).
Simpson went 2-0 for the Ephs last week, allowing nine hits and only one walk while striking out six batters through 12.0 innings of work. She is 5-3 on the season with a 2.20 ERA and one save.
