Macklin Chaffee grew up in Hanover, New Hampshire before moving to Chagrin Falls, Ohio where he received his high school diploma. He then found his way to Williams where he became a three-season runner while earning a degree in Computer Science (2009).

During his time at Williams, Chaffee ran on the 2008 XC team that placed third at the NCAA Championships, received All-American honors six times in track, including two national runner-up finishes in the 1500m.  He was named the New England Male Track Athlete of the Year in 2008. As a senior Chaffee captained the 2009 Williams Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Teams.

In the summer following his senior year, Chaffee entered two elite-level 1500m races, running 3:44.71 in the second to earn a spot in the USATF National Championships in Eugene, OR. Chaffee placed 6th in a heat led by Lopez Lomong and has used that race as his inspiration to pursue running as his primary passion.

Chaffee is currently serving as a volunteer coach for the Ephs, allowing him to train with the team and pick up some coaching tips on the side. In his spare time, Chaffee keeps himself afloat managing his own web development business.
