Edgar Kosgey NESCAC Performer of the Week

HADLEY, MA -- Williams senior Edgar Kosgey (Eldoret Rift Valley, Kenya) was named the Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week, while Wesleyan senior Ravenna Neville (Westfield, N.J.) earned Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week for Oct. 26, 2009. Kosgey won the 2009 Little Three championships, hosted by Amherst, on Saturday with a time of 25:46 over the wet and muddy course.

This marks the second time this season that Kosgey has been named the top performer in NESCAC as he was previously honored on October 12th after finishing third overall in the All-New England Championships in Boston's Franklin Park.

Three times in his four years of competing in the Little Three championship race Kosgey finished in the top two. He was 12th as a freshman, first as a sophomore and senior, and a year ago finished second to teammate Jeff Perlis.

This Sunday Kosgey and the Ephs head to the 2009 NESCAC Men’s Cross Country Championship race at Wickham Park in Manchester, Conn. Trinity College is hosting this year’s championship race.

Kosgey will be looking to lead the Ephs to a fourth consecutive NESCAC title when the gun goes off at 1:00 PM.
