
MADISON, WI – Williams senior track and cross country standout Corey Watts (Madison, WI) has been named First Team ESPN the Magazine District I All-Academic in Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country.
By virtue of his First Team selection, Watts will now appear on the national ballot for Academic All-American honors consideration.

Watts, the 2010 New England Division III and Division I champion at 10k, also landed a prestigious Watson Foundation Fellowship and will engage in one year of travel in several countries studying emergency services available in each country. He also placed fourth in the 5k in New England Division III this season.
Watts earned All-New England honors four times, was a three-time NCAA Cross Country Championships participant, three-time All-New England in cross country and twice earned All-NESCAC honors. He was a perfect 6 for 6 in being named Academic All-NESCAC earning the distinction in cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field the maximum six times.
Academic All-America selection criteria:
- To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or
important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point
average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
- Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50
percent of the team’s games at the position listed on the
nomination form (where applicable).
- No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has
completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and
has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
- In the cases of transfers, graduate students and two-year
college graduates, the student-athlete must have completed one full
calendar year at the nominating institution to be eligible.
