TERRE HAUTE, IN -- The NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, featuring 446 student-athletes from 134 colleges in 27 states, is being hosted by the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

The last time NCAA Championships were staged at Rose-Hulman's Rose Sports and Recreation Center (2007) Williams won its first NCAA women's indoor title.

The championships consist of 15 men's and 15 women's individual events over the two days of competition.  Team champions will be crowned for the most cumulative points over the 15 events in each gender.

On Friday at 4:20 CST senior Macklin Chaffee will run in one of two qualifying heats in the mile run. Chaffee has a season best 4:11.01, which is one of only four times under 4:12.00 this winter. Tony Dipre of Allegheny has the fastest time thus far – 4:10.63. Chaffee needs to finish in the top three in his heat or be one of the four fastest after the top three in each of the heats to run in Saturday's mile finals (2:10 PM CST).

Friday at 4:35 PM junior Elise Johnson will compete in the 55m hurdles. Johnson qualified with a time of 8.36, which is the fifth fastest time in her heat. Johnson needs to win her heat or be one of the six fastest non-heat winners to advance to Saturday's finals field of eight at 2:25 PM CST.

The Ephs will have two sophomores in the 800m run as both Lizzy Danhakl and Sara Wild have qualified. Danhakl and Wild will run together in the second heat and they have the two fastest times in the heat with Danhakl running a 2:14.02 and Wild clocking a 2:13.80 in qualifying.  The Eph duo will be looking to finish one-two in the heat to advance or at least post times among the next four fastest finishers to move on to the finals on Saturday (3:35 PM CST).

Senior Lauren Philbrook has the fastest qualifying time in the 5,000 and will compete in the finals in a field of 15 runners on Saturday at 3:55 PM CST. Philbrook has run 17:06.61 this winter.
