Chaffee All-American in Mile -- Ephs finished tied for 33rd at NCAA Championships

Junior Macklin Chaffee collected his second All-American honor
at the NCAA Championships when he finished eighth in the mile this
afternoon at the Ohio Northern University.
Chaffee ran just over two seconds faster than he did in his
qualifying heat yesterday 4:15.40 vs. 4:17.45 in completing his
third mile run in the past two days. Chaffee also anchored the Eph
Distance Medley Relay team that finished third yesterday.
"The race was a mix of fresh runners and guys who had run a couple of times," noted Eph assistant coach Mitchell Baker. "Macklin got up to the top four at one point and he did well in a very tactical race, but it was his third mile of the weekend."
The Ephs scored seven points at the Championships and finished
in a tie for 33rd place out of 61 scoring teams. The University of
Wisconsin-LaCrosse won the title with 42 points.
