HANOVER, NH--Following a rocky beginning, Williams steadily improved over the weekend to end the Dartmouth Shootout on a high note. Although the team's Doubles play concluded yesterday, Singles play continued today. The Ephs won eight of their fifteen matches, the most the team won all weekend.

After pulling off the upset victory over second-seeded and fifth-ranked Amherst yesterday, Williams mens tennis (11-6, 6-2 NESCAC) couldnt muster a second upset bid over top-seeded and top-ranked Middlebury (18-2, 8-0) this afternoon in the NESCAC tournament championship match. The Panthers defeated the Ephs, 6-0, to claim their sixth title in the last seven years.

Third-seeded Williams mens tennis (11-5, 6-2 NESCAC) avenged their regular season loss to second-seeded Amherst College (23-10, 7-1) in todays second NESCAC semifinal match in a 5-3 victory. The Ephs used a critical 2-1 advantage in doubles play to propel themselves past a squad that had defeated them by a 7-2 margin on April 18.

The Williams mens tennis team (14-5) advanced to their thirteenth consecutive NCAA Quarterfinals over Bowdoin College (12-8), 5-1. Fighting against windy weather and chilly conditions, senior captain Karol Furmaga won the decisive fifth point at court six over Bowdoins Josh Cranin, 6-3, 7-5.

Regional host Williams College (13-5) advanced to the third round of the NCAA tournament over University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth (13-2). The Corsairs won their first match in NCAA tournament history yesterday versus Neumann College, but eighth-ranked Williams cut their run short with a 5-0 win this afternoon.
