Williams men’s tennis (12-7) fell to Amherst College (25-10) in the NCAA Regional Championship finals, 5-2. The Ephs were gunning for their fourteenth consecutive NCAA Quarterfinal appearance but fell short against a talented Lord Jeff squad.

Ephs begin NCAA tournament with win over St. Lawrence, 5-1
Williams men’s tennis began their NCAA tournament with a 5-1 win over St. Lawrence University. Despite losing a close contest at number one doubles, the Ephs were tenacious in singles play to finish off the Saints with three dominant straight set wins for the 5-1 victory.

#1 Middlebury takes NESCAC title over Ephs, 6-0
After pulling off the upset victory over second-seeded and fifth-ranked Amherst yesterday, Williams men’s tennis (11-6, 6-2 NESCAC) couldn’t muster a second upset bid over top-seeded and top-ranked Middlebury (18-2, 8-0) this afternoon in the NESCAC tournament championship match. The Panthers defeated the Ephs, 6-0, to claim their sixth title in the last seven years.

Ephs upset Amherst in NESCAC semifinals, 5-3
Third-seeded Williams men’s tennis (11-5, 6-2 NESCAC) avenged their regular season loss to second-seeded Amherst College (23-10, 7-1) in today’s second NESCAC semifinal match in a 5-3 victory. The Ephs used a critical 2-1 advantage in doubles play to propel themselves past a squad that had defeated them by a 7-2 margin on April 18.

Ephs advance to NESCAC semis; will take on Amherst tomorrow
Third-seeded Williams men’s tennis used an early 3-0 advantage in doubles play to power past sixth-seeded Bates in the first round of the NESCAC tournament, 5-0, hosted by Amherst College. Two Ephs freshman, Zach Weiss and Trey Meyer, solidified the win with two quick straight set victories at courts five and six in singles play.

Williams College rookie head coach Dan Greenberg’s men’s tennis team at 9-5/6-2 NESCAC has been seeded third in the NESCAC Tennis Tournament to be played this Friday through Sunday at Amherst College.

Ephs fall to #1 Middlebury in final regular season match
Although the 8-1 final score might indicate otherwise, Williams men’s tennis battled in a difficult loss to #1 Middlebury (16-2, 8-0) in their final regular season contest. Despite falling into an early 3-0 hole after doubles play, the Ephs brought some of their best doubles tennis to their toughest match up of the year.

Ephs take fifth straight conference win over Hamilton, 9-0
Williams men’s tennis (9-4, 6-1 NESCAC) won their fifth straight match this morning against Hamilton (6-11, 1-6), 9-0. It is the Ephs’ fifth consecutive conference victory, and they will aim to continue that streak tomorrow against the top-ranked team in Division III tennis and conference foe, Middlebury.

#12 Ephs triumph over #17 Trinity, 6-3
Williams men’s tennis (8-4, 5-1 NESCAC) put together another solid showing on the courts to add to their recent string of performances, defeating their second top-20 opponent in their last three matches this afternoon at Trinity College (12-5, 4-4). The Ephs took it to the Bantams in a 6-3 victory and a match that saw five of six singles duels go the distance.

Ephs close out successful weekend with 9-0 win over Colby
Williams men’s tennis (7-4, 4-1 NESCAC) concluded their weekend in Maine with their second win in as many days, defeating Colby (6-6, 3-4), 9-0. After defeating #13 Bowdoin yesterday, the Ephs appear to be playing their best tennis of the season heading into their final two weeks of the regular season.

After struggling early in the spring season against ranked competition, Williams men’s tennis (6-4, 3-1 NESCAC) proved this afternoon that they can contend with the top teams in Division III tennis. The Ephs picked up their first win against a top-25 ranked team in a road match at Bowdoin College (10-6, 4-4), 7-2.

Williams men’s tennis rebounded from their most recent loss to archrival Amherst with a swift victory over their other Little Three competition, Wesleyan. Four Ephs singles players closed out their matches with 6-0 second sets, making quick business of the Cardinals in a domineering 9-0 sweep.

Hanover, New Hampshire- The Ephs wrapped up play at the Dartmouth Invitational with a number of hotly contested matches. Williams showed a lot of heart throughout the day forcing a number of tie breaks.
