Ephs Top Wesleyan in Season Opener

Nick Lebedoff '10

Middletown, CT - Williams (1-0) topped Wesleyan (0-1) in their fall season opener last night with a commanding 7-2 victory.

The Ephs looked impressive in their first match of the season against a talented Wesleyan squad. Every member of the team played well with Wesleyan's only points coming from bitterly contested matches afive singles and three doubles. Senior Co-Captain Bret Thacher set the tone for the Ephs with a gutsy win in three sets.

Second year coach David Donn was understandably encouraged by this early season result, "This was a great way to start off our year, early in the season in a tough environment...I give a lot of credit to Wesleyan and how hard they fought, but we showed a great deal of mental toughness and I feel that will be a key to our season."

Williams will look to maintain their momentum as they take on non-conference foe Skidmore on on the road on September 17th.
