#9 Ephs down #7 Claremont, 7-2

SAN ANTONIO, TX – Yesterday after his #9 Ephs downed third
ranked Washington University Eph rookie head coach Dave Donn
advanced the notion that if the Ephs could just get their doubles
clicking the way their singles play was clicking they would really
have something special – welcome to special. Donn's Ephs
downed #7 Claremont this afternoon 7-2 and it started with a sweep
of the doubles matches.
"We just did a great job of winning the big points in the doubles
matches," noted Donn. "We won points under pressure by playing
aggressively instead of passively and I couldn’t be happier
with how the team played."
First and third doubles were won by identical 8-6 scores and Gary
Simonette and Nick Lebedoff took care of business at number two
8-2, before the Ephs won four of six singles encounters.
"Beating two of three nationally ranked teams in three days is a
great way for us to end up our spring break trip," said Donn.
"We're one third of the way through our season and we just have to
keep after it by working hard on improving every day."
Williams is now 7-1 on the year and completed the spring break trip
with a 5-1 mark. With the loss Claremont falls to 14-5 on the
year.
The Ephs will next see action on Wednesday when they host Union
College in a 4:15 pm match.
