(549.5). The third and final day of competition will begin
tomorrow, February 28, 2010 with trials at 10AM and finals
beginning at 5:30PM.
“We had a great morning,” said a proud head coach
Steve Kuster. “We really showed our depth. These guys did
what they had to do to give us a solid lead on the day.”
During the morning session, Williams junior Gary Roberson earned
the Ephs’ first individual victory of the NESCAC tournament
and broke a pool record with his performance in the 1000 yard
freestyle bout (9:27.54). "Gary gave us our first individual win
and really set us up for an overall good day."
The Ephs consistently placed in the top four throughout the day,
leading to a high accumulation of total points by the end. “I
saw great swimming across the board,” said coach. Kuster said
that Ephs Paul Dyrkacz (2nd) and Chris Corbett (4th) did a great
job in the 400 IM with times of 4:01.19(NATB) and 4:05.77(NATB),
respectively. Also mentioned as a highlight of the meet was Greg
McElroy’s performance in the 100 yard breast (58.45 NATB).
Sophomore Stuart Horgan, who was a standout in yesterday's 500
free, earned a NATB time of 50.71 in today's 100 fly.
The Ephs hope to keep up their performance as they head into the final day of NESCAC competition.
