Ephs Give Powerhouse Harvard a Scare and Sweep Midd and Tufts

The Ephs had a battle against Harvard on Sunday. Williams really
displayed its depth, winning all three matches on the bottom
court.
Jeremy Herrmann ’11 set the tone, taking his first game
decisively. Then It was back and forth until Herrmann took the
decisive 5th game 11-9. Next-door on court two #6 Julian Drobetsky
’13 was also in a nail-biter against senior Frank Cohen.
Cohen’s experience paid off in the 5th game taking the
decisive game 11-7.
The top of the Eph’s fought hard but couldn’t win a
game off of the talented Harvard top four. Bernard Yaros ’10
and Harvard’s Jason Michas had similar deliberate and
consistent style of play that made for a marathon of a five game
match. Jason narrowly took the 5th 12-10.
Freshmen Greaves-Tunnell and Nick Marks took Herrmann’s
example and showed the depth of the Williams side. After losing the
first game, Greaves-Tunnell never looked back and won the next
three outright. Marks was the only Williams player not to drop a
game, displaying some very talented shot-making especially in the
final points of the third game. Williams was disappointed by the
loss but excited by the performance by the back of the ladder, and
to be competing with such a perennial powerhouse.
