Williams Goes 1-1 on the Weekend

Cornell avenged their 5-4 loss to the Ephs last year with authority. With some serious new talent in the freshman class, its no surprise that Cornell jumped from its #11 ranking last season year to an impressive #4 ranking this year. Despite the formidable opponent, the Ephs played tenacious squash.

Ethan Buchsbaum played very well against the Cornell #1 taking the second game before falling to Sachvie’s pace. #2 Will Morris also had a solid performance, taking sophomore Will Hartigan to five games. Morris played very well in the games he won by leveraging his soft touch in the front and deadly boasts from the back. But Morris couldn’t maintain that level of play for three full games, allowing Hartigan to eventually take the match.

Sophomore Will Gruner took Williams’ only match of the day in a very decisive three games.

Christian Henze played some of his best squash this season against Thomas Spettigue, taking the second and third games off the Cornell freshman through patient pressure and scorching forehands. Cornell didn’t give up a game in the 6-10 matches, a testament to their newfound depth.
