HADLEY, MA – Williams College senior midfielder and face-off specialist Corey Jacobs (Somers, CT) has been accorded All-NESCAC honors for the second year in a row. Jacobs was the lone Eph player accorded all-conference honors this season.
"Corey has been a four-year starter for us and our top face-off guy every year," stated Eph head coach George McCormack. "His contributions to the team statistically are very impressive, but his contributions as a leader and a competitor far outweigh the stats."
"Taking face-offs is a combination of finesse, quickness, power and confidence, and Corey possesses all of those qualities," continued McCormack. "There is also a component of toughness that is necessary to be a successful face-off man and Corey has plenty of that. Face-off men get hit with sticks and bodies on a regular basis, which leads to many bumps and bruises and some significant injuries. Corey incurred an injury this year that would of sidelined most players and especially a face-off man. He broke his hand. The injury came early in the year and he battled through i, which makes all his accomplishments that much more significant. Corey is a terrific role model for all our returning players in regards to work ethic and sacrifice. He played his best games against our best opponents and he will be missed."
Jacobs was named to the NESCAC Men's Lacrosse All-NESCAC Second Team for his standout final season wearing the purple
