
PERRY, NY – Williams senior defender
Andrew D’Ambrosio (Arlington, VA) and senior goalie Stephen
Vrla (Paradise Valley, AZ) have been named Scholar All-Americans by
the US Intercollegiate Lacrosse Coaches Association (USILA).
Previously Vrla was named an Honorable Mention All-American by the
USILA.
In 1989 the USILA Scholar All-America Program was established to
recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have
distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens
of their communities. The USILA Selection Committee selects an
overall team representing Division I, II and III. The Scholar
All-Americas are recognized at the annual Lacrosse All-America
Banquet.

The criteria for selection include being a senior nominated by the head coach, possessing a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0scale. The honoree must also be an All-American, a member of the North-South Team or First Team All-League.
D’Ambrosio a captain, was a First Team All-NESCAC selection and he collected 42 ground balls on the year and cuased 8 turnovers in 5 games.
Vrla, who became the Eph starting goalie this spring also earned First Team All-NESCAC honors as well and he a posted .665 save rate and allowed 6.87 goals a game in conference contests.
