The Ephs fought hard for the tying goal late in the game, but came up just short as the Panthers scored on an empy net goal with less than a minute left to seal the victory. The Williams College mens ice hockey team bested the only remaining undefeated team in the country, #2 Norwich, 2-1 on Saturday afternoon. Senior captain Alex Smigelski scored with just under ten minutes left in the game to give the Ephs their second lead of the game, and Williams hung on down the stretch for the victory. Sophomore goalie Ryan Purdy had an unbelievable game, shutting the door on one of the top offensive teams in the country while turning aside 48 shots. Sophomore Ryan Purdy played stellar in net, turning away all 31 of the Mules shots for his first shutout of the season. The Ephs got off to a quick start, going up 2-0 after the first period, and played strong the rest of the way for the victory. The win improved the Ephs January record to 3-3-1 and overall record to 9-3-2. Freshman Eric Rubino led the way offensively with a goal and an assist and sophomore goalie Ryan Purdy finished with 16 saves.
