Ephs climb into national poll

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- Bill Kangas’ 5-0-1 Wiliams men’s ice hockey team has climbed into the national rankings for the first time this season.

Coming off wins over the University of New England (6-1) and the first win over Southern Maine University in four years (3-1) the Ephs are now ranked 14th nationally.

Two other NESCAC teams are ranked nationally with Bowdoin 10th and Middlebury 8th. Only five of the 15 ranked teams have not lost a game this year – Norwich third (5-0-1), Adrian 4th (10-0-0), Bowdoin 10th (5-0-0), Curry 11th (7-0-1) and the Ephs.

Williams is scoring at a 3.81 clip, while holding the opposition to 1.5 goals a game.

The Ephs will next see action this Saturday at 7:00 PM when they host the U.S. National Under 18 team and then Williams will close out the first semester with a 3:00 PM game in Lansing Chapman Rink the next day vs. Salve Regina University.
