
WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- The Williams men’s ice hockey team finished the regular season with an overall mark of 15-5-3 and a NESCAC ledger of 13-5-1, claiming the third seed in this weekend’s NESCAC Tournament and solidifying their ranking of 8th nationally.
The Ephs used a 4-1win at Castleton State and a 4-1 win at Skidmore on the last weekend of regular season play to secure home ice in the NESCAC Tourney.
The Ephs will host 6th-seeded Hamilton in Lansing Chapman Rink in a 7:00 PM contest on Saturday in the first round of the NESCAC Tournament.
Hamilton enters the tournament with a record of 14-8-2, 11-7-1 NESCAC. Both the Ephs and the Continentals are red hot and have posted 8-2-1 records over the last 11 games.
Williams hosted Hamilton back on January 9th and the Ephs came out on top in a 3-2 over time contest.
The Ephs are led in scoring by senior captain Alex Smigelski who has scored 13 goals and assisted on 13 for 23 points in NESCAC play. The Continentals’ top scorer is Chris Lorenc who has scored 9 goals and has registered a dozen assists for 21 points.
Eph sophomore goalie Ryan Purdy has a 2.14
goals against average and has a .930 save percentage, while
Hamilton’s first year goalie Calvin Bartel has a goals
against average of 2.35 and a .921 save percentage.
