Ephs Fall in Heartbreaker to Hamilton, 2-1 in Overtime
When Williams and Hamilton met earlier this year, Williams escaped with a 3-2 overtime win. Saturday night Hamilton got their revenge, scoring 2:47 into the first overtime period to win the game and advance to the NESCAC semifinals.

Ephs Earn Home Ice With 4-1 Win Over Skidmore
The Williams men's hockey team earned a home postseason game for the second consecutive season, completing a weekend sweep by beating Skidmore 4-1 Saturday afternoon. Juniors Connor Olvany and Brian Malchoff each registered a goal and an assist, while Matty Masucci '11 and Alex Smigelski '10 each added a pair of assists. Sophomore Ryan Purdy played well in goal, turning aside 21 shots.

Ephs Defeat Castleton 4-1 to Keep NESCAC Race Alive
The Williams College men's hockey team defeated Castleton 4-1 Friday night to remain in the hunt for the NESCAC regular season title. Freshman Eric Rubino led the Ephs with a pair of goals and junior Brian Malchoff added a goal and an assist. Sophomore Ryan Purdy stopped 21 saves, earning his 10th win of the season.

The University of Massachusetts Boston men's ice hockey team scored 11 seconds into the game and never trailed as senior forwards Kris Kranzky (Glendora, CA) and Anthony Cosmano (Wheaton, IL) each scored a goal and added an assist to lead the way over nationally-ranked number six Williams.

Ephs Power Past Babson 3-2
Junior Matt Masucci (Winthrop, Mass.) scored a short-handed goal at 8:49 of the third period to lift the visiting Williams College men's ice hockey team to a 3-2 win over host Babson College in an ECAC East/NESCAC matchup at the Babson Skating Center on Friday night. With the victory, the Ephs, ranked sixth in the nation by U.S. College Hockey Online, improved to 13-4-3 overall and 11-4-1 in the NESCAC. The Beavers, meanwhile, saw their seven-game unbeaten streak come to an end as they fell to 12-8-2 overall and 9-6-1 in the ECAC East.

Ephs Come Up Just Short, Losing 4-2 to NESCAC Rival #9 Middlebury
The Williams College men's hockey team fell into a three-way tie for first place in the NESCAC, losing 4-2 to rival #9 Middlebury. Williams jumped out to a 2-0 lead, dominating much of the first period, but gave up three quick goals midway through the second period that proved to be the difference. The Ephs fought hard for the tying goal late in the game, but came up just short as the Panthers scored on an empy net goal with less than a minute left to seal the victory.

Ephs Win Fourth Straight in Huge 2-1 Win Over #2 Norwich
There are no undefeated teams left in division 3 men’s hockey. The Williams College men’s ice hockey team bested the only remaining undefeated team in the country, #2 Norwich, 2-1 on Saturday afternoon. Senior captain Alex Smigelski scored with just under ten minutes left in the game to give the Ephs their second lead of the game, and Williams hung on down the stretch for the victory. Sophomore goalie Ryan Purdy had an unbelievable game, shutting the door on one of the top offensive teams in the country while turning aside 48 shots.

Ephs Look Strong in 4-1 Win Over St. Michael's
The Williams men’s hockey team increased their current unbeaten streak to seven, winning their third straight game by besting St. Michael’s 4-1 tonight. Senior Captain Alex Smigelski led the way with two goals and two assists, while junior Connor Olvany added a pair of goals to round out the scoring. Senior goalie Marc Pulde played excellent between the pipes, turning aside 23 of 24 St. Michael’s shots.

For the second time in three years a member of the WIlliams College men's ice hockey team is a finalist for the Hockey Humanitarian Award. The Ephs' Will Bruce '08 won the award in 2008. Joining Bruce as a finalist that year was Caralyn Quan from the eph women's team.

Late Surge Propels Ephs Past Colby, 3-0
Williams used a trio of late goals to break a scoreless tie and come away with a 3-0 win over NESCAC foe Colby. Junior Ryan Young deflected a Evan Dugdale pass into the net with two and a half minutes left to score a goal that would prove to be the game winner. Sophomore Ryan Purdy played stellar in net, turning away all 31 of the Mule’s shots for his first shutout of the season.

The Williams College men’s hockey team battled back from a 2-0 deficit to tie Bowdoin 4-4 on Friday night at Lansing Chapman Rink. Bowdoin started fast, scoring 11 seconds into the game, but Williams rallied to produce their second best offensive performance of the month and battle for a hard fought tie.

Ephs Complete Weekend Series Sweep With 3-2 Win Over New England College
The Williams men’s hockey team completed the weekend sweep by defeating New England College 3-2 this afternoon. The Ephs got off to a quick start, going up 2-0 after the first period, and played strong the rest of the way for the victory. The win improved the Ephs January record to 3-3-1 and overall record to 9-3-2. Freshman Eric Rubino led the way offensively with a goal and an assist and sophomore goalie Ryan Purdy finished with 16 saves.

The Williams College men’s hockey team used three power play goals to power past Division 2 foe St. Anselm’s 6-2. Senior Captain Alex Smigelski led the way with three goals and an assist, while Junior Ben Contini pitched in two goals, and freshman Mike Broft had three assists. The Ephs jumped out to a 4-0 lead midway through the second period and held on the rest of the way for the win.

The Williams College men’s hockey team rallied from a disappointing weekend, battling to a tie with third ranked Plattsburgh. The Ephs were playing their third game in four days after dropping a pair of NESCAC contests in Connecticut over the weekend, but showed no signs of fatigue. Junior Matt Masucci had the Ephs only goal, while sophomore goalie Ryan Purdy held off the talented Cardinal attack.

Freshman Cody Skinner ended a thrilling contest by converting on a 2 on 1 a minute into overtime. The goal gave Williams a 3-2 win over visiting Hamilton, improving the Ephs’ record to 5-1 in league play. The win was huge for the team, rebounding after a tough loss last night to Amherst.

The Ephs entered the game as the tenth ranked team in division 3, while the Lord Jeffs came in ranked fourteenth. A packed house came to watch the highly anticipated game, and the two teams did not disappoint.
