Ephs edged in overtime, 3-2

CLINTON, N.Y. -- Brian O'Malley '10 scored with 2:37 remaining in overtime to lift Hamilton College to a 3-2 win against visiting Williams College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference men's hockey game played at Russell Sage Rink on Feb. 20.

Hamilton (9-13-1 overall, 8-10-0 NESCAC) snapped a two-game losing streak. Williams (14-7-2, 12-4-2) had their win streak end at three games. The Ephs still lead the all-time series, 64-52-12.

O'Malley's goal was his first this season and just the fourth of his career. Harry Biggs '10 was credited with the assist -- his 10th this season.

The Continentals trailed 2-0 after two periods, but rallied with two goals early in the third. Chris Lorenc '10 started the comeback with his 16th goal during a power play at 4:14 of the period. Lorenc leads the team with 16 goals and 28 points. Jerome Wallace '10 tied the score with his fifth goal just 39 seconds later. Hamilton held a 15-4 advantage in shots in the period.

Williams scored a pair of goals midway through the first period while the teams skated 4-on-4. Justin Troiani '12 gave the Ephs a 1-0 lead with his fifth goal this season at 10:53 of the period. Ryan Scott '12 made it a two-goal cushion with his third goal 50 seconds later.

Neither team scored in the second period. Ian Stearns '10 made 30 saves for the Continentals and Ryan Purdy '12 stopped 25 shots for Williams.
