Ephs surrender three late scores, fall to Southern Maine 6-3

Box Score

GORHAM, Maine - The Williams College men's hockey team surrendered three goals in the games final three minutes before falling to Southern Maine University 6-3 Friday night.

The Ephs have now lost two consecutive games after starting the season with three straight wins, and are now 3-2.  With the win the Huskies snap a two game slide and climb back to even at 3-3.

Ryan Young led the offense with two scores and an assist, while goal tender Marc Pulde stopped 25 of the 31 shots he faced for the Eph defense.

The Ephs found themselves trailing entering the third period, but scores from Matt Masucci and Young evened things up with just eight minutes remaining in regulation. However, the Huskies took advantage of a late Eph penalty in the games final minutes with a pair of power play goals just 57 seconds apart to restore their advantage to two goals at 5-2.

Southern Maine would add a open goal net with under a minute remaining to balloon their lead and finalize the scoring at 6-3.

The Ephs will try to stop the slide tomorrow, December 6th, when they travel to Salem State. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM.
