Ephs fall 1-0 in OT to Castleton

PLATTSBURGH, New York - The Williams College men's hockey team battled Castleton College to a draw through three periods in the opening round of the Plattsburgh Tournament, however the Spartan's Stuart Stefan converted a pass from teammate Brandon heck just 21 seconds into the overtime to give Castleton the 1-0 overtime victory Friday.
The game marks the first time the Ephs have played since the holiday hiatus, and drops their record to 4-3 (2-0 NESCAC). The Spartans improve to 5-4.
In a game that was remarkably even, with the two teams practically mirroring each other statistically in shots (Williams: 26, Castleton: 24), saves (Williams: 23, Castleton: 26), and penalties (Williams: 3, Castleton: 5), the Ephs simply couldn't capitalize on their five power play opportunities.
Marc Pulde stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced in his return to the net for the Ephs.
Williams looks to get back in the win column tomorrow, January 3rd, at 4:00 PM in the consolation round of the Plattsburgh tournament.
