Brandon Jackmuff '08 to play professionally in Germany

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – Brandon Jackmuff  '08 has signed a contract to play professionally in the Oberliga in Germany with Herne Eissport Verein 2007.  The Oberliga is the third level of professional play in Germany.

Jackmuff (West Deptford, NJ) was a four-year letterman for the Ephs at forward and led the team in goals (12) and assists (13) and points (25) in 2007-08. He earned Second Team All-NESCAC honors as a senior. In his eph career Jackmuff netted 49 goals and assisted on 33 for 82 points in 93 games.

Jackmuff is one of four non-Europeans allowed on a team roster and he will be playing alongside former NESCAC foe Tom Maldonado who was the captain of the team at Middlebury last season.

"I'm not necessarily trying to make a career out of hockey but I couldn't see passing up such an amazing opportunity," said Jackmuff. "This will be the first time that I can focus on just hockey and not have to worry about school, working, or anything else, so I am excited to see how the first year goes. The fact that I'll be in Europe doesn't hurt."

The games in the Oberliga will be played on an Olympic-size ice sheet, which is wider and longer than the Williams ice sheet and most Division 3 sheets.  "I expect the players to be both more skilled and faster in Europe than what I have played against the past four years in Division 3," said Jackmuff. " I'm extremely anxious and excited to get over there and get on the ice."

Jackmuff's contract with Herne Eissport Verein 2007 includes travel arrangements, car, apartment, salary and runs through March. "The situation is the best I could've hoped for coming out of Division 3 and having had no prior pro or European hockey experience under my belt."
