Men's Golf Struggles on Day 1 of Bowdoin Invitational

Brunswick, ME – The Williams Men’s Golf team started off the fall portion of their season today, struggling to a tie for 6th place after the first round of the Bowdoin Invitational at the Brunswick G.C.

Consistency has eluded the men’s golf team for the past couple of seasons, but they have always tried to stay positive through the tough stretches that are often times confronted during the course of a round.

Bob Camp '11 and Jack Killea '11 each shot an 81 to lead the Eph scoring, Jake Wagner '11 contributed an 82 and Siwol Chang '12 claimed the final score spot with an 88.

"No excuses - we just stunk up the course today," said Eph head coach Rick Pohle. "A lot of poor shots, some bad decisions and a bit of first event jitters (I guess). I wouldn't have expected this from a group of veteran golfers and especially this group of players. I hope it isn't a preview of what to expect for the weeks to come, if so we could be shaking up the roster very quickly. Tomorrow's round will have a lot to say on how we proceed from here."

After a 332 total today, the Ephs find themselves towards the end of the pack, but hope to bounce back tomorrow with some strong play. The first tee time starts at 10:30 AM on Sunday morning.
