PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – Luther College fired
a 304 on the second day of the Sunshine Invitational for a two-day
total of 592 to take top honors finishing ahead of Huntingdon
College (598), Williams (630) and Middlebury (637).
Chase Blaich of Huntingdon captured medalist honors with rounds of
70 and 75 and a total of 145.
The Ephs second day total of 320 was 10 shots off their first day
score of 310.
"Generally speaking, I think we played alright in this event but
we were hurt by a number of poor decisions on the course and tried
to force the issue too much," remarked Eph head coach Rick Pohle.
"We have a number of players that still think that every shot has
to be pure. Bad shots, bounces and decisions are part of the game
and will never ever be eliminated from the sport. Players in order
to improve are supposed to be able to learn from the situations and
look for ways to manage them - we still haven't mastered this part
of the game. Some of our players are getting closer, but everyone
has to reinforce the process as a team if we are to be as
successful as a number of our teams from the past."
Leading the way for the Ephs on day two was first year Siwol Chang
who carded a three over par 75, followed by sophomores Jacob Wagner
(79), and the trio of Drew Murray, Jack Killea and Robert Camp who
tied at 83.
The Ephs will next see action when they return to the northeast
and compete in the Palamountain Invitational hosted by Skidmore
College April 12 & 13.
