Ephs 6th out of 12 at Hamilton Invite after day one

Rick Pohle's Williams men's golf team is in the middle of the pack after the first day of play in the Hamilton Invitational being played at Seven Oaks Golf course in Hamilton, NY his weekend. The ephs are in sixth place with a team score of 307, while Skidmore tops the fiedl with a score of 286.
Matt Canavan of Skidmore was the medalist for the day with a round of 70.
The Ephs are one shot out of fifth (NYU) and two shots out of fourth (Clarkson and eight shots out of second (Middlebury) and Salem State is one shot behind the Ephs, so there could be some movement in the standings after tomorrow's final round. Tomorrow will end the Hamilton Invitational and close the book on the fall portion of the Eph schedule as well
The Ephs brought four first year players and senior co-captain Nicholas Nottebohm to the event. Bob Camp led Williams with a 75, followed by Drew Murray and Jack Wadden both at 77, Nottebohm carded a 78 and Jake Wagner had an 82.
"I think we played pretty well today, despite a 45 minute rain
delay that stalled some of our momentum on the back nine," noted
Pohle. "Literally, we had to finish in the dark - the last three
groups had almost no daylight to play the last hole."
"I am pleased with our effort today - Jack Wadden '11 - was
playing in his first college event and Nicholas Nottebohm '08
rebounded nicely from a tough day last Wednesday, when he posted an
85 in the Skidmore Fall Classic (his first competition this
season)," said Pohle. "Bob Camp continued his fine play and Drew
Murray continues to improve - both will figure prominently into our
success in the future. Jake Wagner had a tough day on the greens,
but will score much better tomorrow."
