Skidmore leads Williams Invite by 12 shots after day 1; Ephs tied for 4th

The Thoroughbreds of Skidmore College opened up a 12-shot lead on the field on day one of the two-day Williams Invitational withTobin Spector and Sam Dasilva tying for medalist honors at 72. Skidmore's Chris DeJohn is tied for third with an opening round of 73 on the 6,640 yard, par 70 layout.

Middlebury is in secondplace in the 19-team field as the Panthers fired a 305 today. NYU holds down third place with a 306 and Williams and Trinity are tied at 308 in fourth place.

The Invitational will conclude tomorrow with another 18 hole round beginning at 8:00 am.

Leading the way for the host Ephs was first year Jack Killea with a 74, followed by senior Brendan Conley who shot a 76. Junior Tyoer Zara carded a 79 and Drew Murray sht an 80.

"We struggled alittle bit early on," said Eph head coach Rick Pohle. "I think some of the youger guys might have relaxed alittle too much thinking that home course advantage would be a big boost to them and they learned you still have to go out and score. Sometimes playing at home is not an advantage."

Team scores
