Ephs capture Indian Hills Classic

FT. PIERCE, FL – Williams, Hamilton and Wesleyan squared off today at the Indian Hills Golf Club in Ft. Pierce in an event featuring teams of seven in medal play Nassau, with each pairing worth nine points. The Ephs came away with the title by wining on both points (7 ½ ahead of Hamilton) and strokes three better than Hamilton

Williams -- 31 points -- 291
Hamilton -- 23 1/2 points -- 294
Wesleyan -- 8 1/2 points -- 314

Williams got great performances from a number of players and showed a balanced depth in their line-up. First years Jake Wagner and Drew Murray led the way with even par 72s and won the maximum 6 points in their matches. Senior co-captain Brendan Conley followed with a 73, but was only able to capture 4 points in his match.

The balanced scores kept coming with first year Jack Killea posting a 74 (21/2 points) and junior Matt Felser (back from a semester abroad) shooting a 75 (6 points). Rounding out the scoring were senior co-captain Nicholas Nottebohm with a 78 (5 1/2 points), junior Tyler Zara  79 (1 point) and first year Bob Camp who was playing as an individual in the event recorded a 77.

"It was nice to see our players perform so well in the first competitive event of the season,” stated Eph head coach Rick Pohle. “The weather has been very good, but the winds have made scoring very difficult most of the week. Today the winds subsided and I think the players really took advantage of the ideal scoring situations. We are gaining more confidence each day we get out on the golf course and we’re looking forward to bringing our games north for the spring season."
