Ephs take 2nd & 3rd on first day of racing in Great Britain
Peter Wells' Eph V1 picked up a second place finish and a third
place finish in their first day of racing at the 153rd Marlow
Regatta in Eton, Great Britain on a course owned by the Eton
Colleges.
In their morning race with a field of seven boats the Ephs broke
on top after 500 meters leading Vesta 1:31.13 to 1:32.16, but Vesta
responded with a time of 1:34.01 over the next 500 meters to the
Ephs' 1:36.95 to wrest the lead back. Vesta held the lead over the
final 1,000 meters and won in a time of 6:21.42. The Ephs took
second with a time of 6:22.45.

Back on the water in the afternoon in a five-boat field the Ephs
got off to a slightly slower start over the first 500 meters and
that opened the door for Abingdon Day (1st – 1:30.69) and
Oxford Brookes (2nd – 1:31.02 to establish themselves as the
leaders. The ephs finished the first 500 meters in 1:31.89).
Abingdon School fell behind Oxford Brookes at 1,5000 meters, but
they put the hammer down over the final 500 out stroking Oxford
Brookes by nearly four seconds to win in 6:24.09. Oxford Brookes'
6:26.15 was good enough for second and the Ephs took third with a
time of 6:26.15.
