It was a fitting end to the career at Chandler Gymnasium for seven seniors tonight, as Williams men’s basketball defeated Brandeis 71-57 to advance to Final Four in Salem, Virginia next Friday. The team pushed its record to 29-1 on the season and its already record breaking in-season win streak to 20 games.

Williams senior forward and co-captain Blake Schultz has been named the winner of the prestigious Jostens Trophy for 2010. The national award recognizes playing ability, scholarship and community service. Schultz is the second Eph to win the award as Michael Nogelo '98 won the first award in 1998.

Blake Schultz, James Wang and Alex Rubin combined for 66 points in front of a packed Chandler Gymnasium to lead Williams men’s basketball past University of Maine-Farmington 83-64 in the second round of the NCAA tournament. The victory marked the team’s 18th straight win, which ties Williams’ all time record for consecutive in-season wins set in 2003-2004.

Second-ranked Williams men’s basketball claimed its fourth NESCAC title and its second in three years after the team defeated sixth-ranked Middlebury 64-56 in the NESCAC tournament finals this afternoon. The victory, which was the Ephs’ 17th in a row and pushed the team’s record to 26-1, earns the team an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Fifth-ranked Williams College men’s basketball pulled out a 70-68 victory against New Paltz tonight in the game’s final seconds. James Wang scored 16 points and hit two free throws with 11 seconds remaining to give the Ephs a 69-68 lead and, ultimately, the victory, as New Paltz could not counter as the game ended.
