HADLEY, MA — Williams College senior cornerback Matt Zanedis has been selected as the NESCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week for play ending November 7.
Zanedis and the Ephs’ defense held Wesleyan to only 259 yards of total offense in a 34-7 victory. Zanedis blocked a Wesleyan field goal attempt on the opening drive of the game, then put Williams on the scoreboard later in the first quarter when he intercepted a pass and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown.
He also contributed three tackles (two solo).
Zanedis currently leads the Ephs with six pass break-ups this season and his two interceptions are tied for the team lead. In addition, he has a fumble recovery for a touchdown and is fourth on the squad in tackles with 27 (21 solo).
