John Szawlowski & Trevor Powers earn D3football.com All-East honors
Eph senior football standouts John Szawlowski (Hatfield, MA) and
Trevor Powers (Danvers, MA) were accorded D3football.com All-East
honors recently.
Szawlowksi, a three-year starter at left offensive tackle, was
named to the region's First Team, while Powers, a captain and LB,
was named to the Third Team.
Both Szawlowski and Powers were honored earlier this fall by being
named to the All-NESCAC First Team. The First Team All-NESCAC
honors this fall were the third year in a row that Szawlowski has
been recognized, while Powers was named for the second straight
year.
Playing the key left offensive tackle and protecting the Eph QB's
blind side was a role that Szawlowski performed almost flawlessly
as he permitted just three sacks in 24 career starts.
Powers topped the Eph tacklers for the second year in a row when
he racked up 42 solos and 26 assists this fall. His 42 solos was
just one shy of the Eph single season Division III mark. The
ever-active Powers also recorded nine tackles for a loss (-29
yards), two sacks (-17 yards), broke up two passes and recovered
one fumble.
Szawlowski and Powers were key in helping the Ephs post a 6-2
record, a fourth consecutive Little Three title and a fourth
straight win over archrival Amherst (24-23).
