Ephs Beat Amherst 24-23 to Win Little Three

In Williams' 999th football game, the Ephs (6-2) did something they'd done 608 times before on Saturday - they won. As one would expect from a school now sporting a 609-343-47 record (equating to a .632 winning percentage, good for 5th all-time among NCAA teams with at least 500 victories), the Ephs didn't out-talent or overpower an exceptionally strong Amherst football team (5-3) on Saturday; they didn't ride the play of any one individual, and they didn't crush the Jeffs with flawless execution. Plain and simple, they just found a way to win, this time on a 4th quarter drive to pull ahead 24-23.

Trinity snaps Ephs' 16-game home winning streak

For the second straight year the Williams football team (1-1) came up just short against fellow conference powerhouse Trinity (2-0), dropping a 20-17 contest. It was the first time the Ephs' had lost at home since October 2, 2004 - which, coincidentally, was against Trinity. The Bantam victory snapped a 16 game home winning streak for an Eph team that just couldn't seem to make enough big plays on offense.

SERIES: Began in 1884. Williams leads the series 35-29-2. Williams lost last year's match-up, a triple-overtime thriller in Hartford, 46-40. The game also marked the Ephs' last loss, as Williams has rattled off seven-straight wins since then. Two years ago during Williams undefeated 2006 season the Ephs snapped the Bantams 31-game win streak that was leading the nation.
