Pat Lucey wins Zabilski award as NE's top Div. II-III Offensive Player/4 Ephs All ECAC-Northeast

Williams senior quarterback Pat Lucey (Plymouth, MA/Tabor
Academy) has been named the winner of the Gridiron Club of Greater
Boston's 12th annual Joseph P. Zabilski Award as the top offensive
player of the year among New England Division II-III players.
Lucey received his award at the Club's annual Bob Whelan College
Football Awards Night on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at the Marriott
Hotel in Burlington, MA.
Lucey is the fourth Eph to win the Zabilski award as Sean Keenan
'00, a quarterback, won the offensive award in 1998, Joe Reardon
'04 a quarterback in 2001 and Scott Farley '03, a DB, won the
defensive award in 2002.
Lucey led the Ephs to a 6-2 record on the year and a third
consecutive win over Amherst and a third straight Little Three
title. He closed out his Williams career with a 19-2 record as the
Ephs starting QB.

During the 2007 season Lucey threw for 1,959 yards and 16 TDs,
connecting on 61.4% of his passes. He set Eph single season marks
for most pass attempts (272) and completions (167). Lucey was named
the NESCAC Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive
year.
In his career Lucey, a four-year letterman, connected on a
Williams best 65.4% of his passes (393 out of 601) for 4,684 yards
and 37 TDs in 31 games. He tied the Williams record for consecutive
completions with 11 in a row vs. Middlebury in 2006.
Previously Lucey was honored as a member of the 2006 New England
Football writers Division II-III team, the 2006 Football Gazette
All-East Team and the 2006 ECAC-Northeast offensive Player of the
Year.
Founded in 1932, the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston promotes the
game of football at all levels and nurtures the ideals of
citizenship, sportsmanship, leadership, and athletic and academic
achievement. Through its annual dinners and golf tournament, the
club carries on its tradition of honoring exemplary players,
coaches and officials at all levels of the sport, and supporting
worthy charitable causes, especially those that assist children.
Lucey, junior RB Brian Morrissey, senior RB and kick return specialist Kevin Flyn and junior OT John Szawlowski were named First Team ECAC-Northeast.
