2 Million Visitors is a Lot

Apparently records are still made to be broken.

The Ephs Athletics website has set a record for visitors in each of the last three years and the growth, especially for the 2009-10 has been most impressive.

The Ephs Athletics website posted yet another recordbreaking year at midnight on August 31^st.

The Ephs Athletics site drew 2,004,938 visitors in the past year (9/1/09 – 8/31/10) making it not only the number one web destination on the Williams campus, but number one among all of the 100 or so Division III teams hosted by Prestosports.com.

In the 2008-09 year the Ephs Athletics site attracted 1,190,038 million visitors and while it might be easy to say that the increase this year of 814,900 was due to a rare phenomenal year, Williams excellent performance in national rankings in both academics and athletics in the same year has been a constant for the past eight years.

The power of Prestosports in its presentation and functionality, the addition of a Twitter feed in the fall, the creation of a Facebook page in March, a wide variety of video webcasts and the impressive across the board success of the Ephs in the classroom and in competition were certainly factors in the increase.

Among all of the sites in all NCAA divisions, conferences and even magazines hosted by Prestosports, the Ephs finished eighth.

The Eph site averaged 5,493 visitors a day and each month visitors came from more than 125 countries with Canada, United Kingdom, Russian Federation, China and Germany topping the list.

For the first time the Ephs Athletics site received over 100,000, visits every month. This year the month with the highest traffic was March (220,035), while July recorded the lowest monthly total, 113,651.

The single day record for the site remains November 10, 2007 when ESPN College GameDay made its first visit to a Division III campus. That day 12, 422 visitors dropped by the Ephs Athletics website.

This coming year the Ephs will unveil another new look in its Athletics site and will be incorporating more video highlights and interviews.
