Williams Athletics Site Sets Record for Visitors in a Day, Month, Year and the Year is Not Over Yet !
November of 2010 the Williams Athletics site had 243,260 visitors, which was an all-time record for one month, but that total only held the top spot for three months, because in March of 2011 the site attracted 250,966 folks. Further proof that the Williams Athletics site is far and away the number one web destination on campus.
November of 2010 does hold the record for most visitors to the site in one day, however, when 16,082 visitors dropped on November 13th. On November 13, 2010 the Eph football team defeated Amherst to record a perfect 8-0 season, men’s and women’s soccer won NCAA Tournament games, and the men’s and women’s cross country teams qualified for the NCAA Championships race.
The previous single day high for the site had been 12,422 established on November 10, 2007 when ESPN’s College Football GameDay Show made its first visit to an NCAA Division III school.
Four years ago the Williams Athletics site moved to PrestoSports.com and the number of visits has grown at an incredible rate. The first year with PrestoSports.com the site attracted 915,061 visitors. In year two the Ephs had 1.2 million visitors and last year 2,002,923 checked in.
On June 25th the Ephs cleared last year’s high mark and now with three hours left in the day the number of visitors since September 1, 2010 totaled 2,006,065.
The counting year on the Williams Athletics site runs from September 1st until August 31st. At year’s end the total number of visitors may end up somewhere between 2.25 and 2.5 million.
These numbers are all the more impressive when you realize that while the 2010-11 academic year was another stellar one for the Ephs, but no more so than the previous dozen years when the Ephs also won the Directors’ Cup in NCAA Division III, emblematic of athletic supremacy.
