Angry Fish turn happy in Tampa charity swim event

TAMPA – Three decades of Williams swimming came together in Tampa, Florida to participate in the 13th annual Whiskey Joes Tampa Bay Marathon Swim to raise money for the Make a Splash Foundation, which is under the auspices of USA Swimming.

The marathon is a 24-mile event and competing teams had to be comprised of more than one gender. Representing the Ephs were Rob Benson ’90, Jordan Lewis ’79, Kathy Kirmayer ’86, Chris Kirwan ’87, John Young,’97 and Bill Couch ’86.

According to Chris Kirwan Kathy Kirmayer was the Ephs “team captain and chief coordinator for everything.” Kirmayer no doubt was delighted with the results of the event as the placed well and raised $2,000.

“We finished second in a time of nine hours, one minute,” a pleased Chirs Kirwan reported. “As it turned out, we all had a fantastic time and plan on a second annual event in 2011.”
