Ephs look to claim 3rd straight ECAC title

Williamstown, MA--This Saturday, the Ephwomen harriers will compete on their home course at Mt. Greylock High School in hopes of securing their 3rd consecutive ECAC title. While the top 7 have a week off to rest up for the Div. III New England Regional Championship, the ‘second 7’ will step up to defend the ECAC title.

46 teams from eight states will compete for the 2009 ECAC title, which will include a field of 300+ runners traversing the popular layout at Mt. Greylock High School.

Last year, Elly Teitsworth ’10 led the Williams women to a victory, securing the individual victory as well. This year, Teitsworth will be racing among the top 7 at regionals next weekend, while a group of mostly younger runners will race this Saturday.

Williams will come head-to-head once again with a strong Middlebury team, this year’s NESCAC champions. With this week’s racers coming to the line even fresher and healthier, the Ephs hope to challenge the Panthers after a narrow 10-point defeat at NESCACs. Amherst will also bring some solid competition after finishing third at the NESCAC Championship, just 12 points behind Williams.

The Ephs’ second seven consists of first-year Celeste Berg, sophomores Natalie Davis, Olivia Delia, and Elleree Erdos, junior KK Durante, and seniors Jess Clarke and Ariel Williams. Jess Clarke is also a co-captain of the team.

The women’s 6k race will kick off at 11 o’clock on Saturday, followed by the men’s 8k at noon.
